Melee is even less interesting and is a lot like an overly simplified version of Infinity Blade that quickly devolves into a pattern of dodging, bopping the zombie on the head, dodging, etc. There’s a more traditional option available, with a fire button and everything, but even then the shooting segments never really amount to much more than zombie shooting galleries. Although when the shooting is this effortless it takes a lot of the challenge out of it. All you have to do is sweep your crosshairs over a zombie and Doug will open fire automatically. They felt like they were only there to slow down my progress. Frequent puzzles, though, are bland, and never really progress beyond swiping the screen a couple of times to connect wires. Thankfully there are still plenty of other drawers to inspect in most areas - and inspect you should, since there’s a fair bit of ammo and experience points to find hidden throughout. The tap controls are actually pretty intuitive, although I've noticed a few instances where trying to pick up an item or open a desk drawer never registered even after multiple taps. It just requires paying less attention to the story and having a soft spot for exploration.Doug has to search and fight his way through some pretty impressive-looking - albeit fairly repetitive - environments along the way, naturally. It's still possible to have fun with World War Z, however. For example, it’ll introduce random people that Doug knows from his past with little to no context - bizarre, considering Doug isn’t a character from the film. It's a fairly mundane story, complete with drop-in drop-out characters and a disjointed plot filled with "oh by the way" moments.
